Farewell To Shopper
december 28, bernie had to say good bye to his buddy of 14 years, his kitty "shopping news" and it has broken his heart.
this is a story i wrote about shopping news a few years back that a nice blog lady published for me on her blog...http://www.occupytillicome.com/intro.html
Shopping News--The Cat!
Shopper's real name is "Shopping News."--For a reason. . . One morning when I was about to take my husband, Bernie, to work, I noticed a meowing coming from somewhere in the car. We looked under the hood of the car and nothing. Bernie thought I was just hearing things, so we got into the car and proceeded to drive. As soon as we had got around the corner, I told Bernie, "I STILL hear it!" We stopped right away at the side of the road, and by this time Bernie heard the same meowing!
He promptly got out, and going under the car, he started to explore. To his amazement he saw a small, skinny tail dangling from just under the muffler. He tried gently to give the tail a pull, with no results. There was nothing to be done but to give that tail a ruthless yank, and with that mighty pull out came a kitten! Somehow that little jigger had gotten himself on top of the muffler and had been trapped and couldn't get himself out! Well! Just then a guy that Bernie works with came by and yelled, "Bernie, you don't drive to work under the car! You get into the car!" With that he told Bernie he would drive him to work, and guess who got stuck looking after that kitten? Well I took him home and stuffed him into the bathroom with a litter box and a dish of food and shut the door. After all, I had a paper route to be delivered that morning. No time to be playing with stray cats! The paper I was delivering was the "Shopping News." Therefore that cat became "Shopping News"—“Shopper” for short, and ever since that day Shopper has been Bernie's boss. And my big black cat, "Sir Galahad" became Shopper’s boss. And as for me? I’m no longer a boss--I have become a referee for the three of them!
PS: Shopping News is now about ten years old and my Sir Galahad died at the age of 16 two years ago. © Teresa Shirkie
Bernie buried shopping news beside sir galahad in the back garden....

Continued Happy Birthday Greetings To Grandpaw Ron
well, this is the best i could do grandpaw ron...i just had to google a cake in for you and by the sad looks of this little doggie that i found in your blog http://rrbj.wordpress.com/, he sure doesn't look happy with the looks of this!
here you are grandpaw ron inside this picture that jel took and then inside the picture that i helped myself to from your blog. you are flying with the eagles and god is hiding you under his wings!
your mama and your sister and you are looking after their children and their children's children and teaching them the ways of the lord and so your family will be blessed!
now dear grandpaw ron, after all of these nice things i have said about you...alas!' i have to tell all of your friends that you have a little bit of a mean streak!..you are always taking bernie's part and giving him ideas that he should not be putting up with the mean ole canadian lady and in fact not to be working the many jobs i have for him and in fact telling him to flee out the door!..not nice grandpaw ron!
here is the picture that grandpaw ron got princess to draw and i really think that was way too mean!...he paid that doggie in tangerines and golden granny smith apples to do the bad deed!
you can read all about it here.
http://rrbj.wordpress.com/2008/08/07/true-old-fashioned-love-in-disguise/

First Christmas in Heaven For Aunt Lilly
bernie and i send all of our best wishes to you all..so many blog friends and all of your families...may god richly bless you as you celebrate, not only the coming into the world of the lord jesus but also keeping in mind WHY he came...to die for us and pay for our sins with his own blood and finally to take us to heaven if we do receive his wonderful gift of love.........love bernie and terry
i received this letter a couple of days ago from my dearest friend and i am going to copy a portion of it for you to read..i am sure that felisol and gunnar and serina will not mind.
"Yesterday Gunnar’s aunt Lilly died, while we were visiting.
She had been weakening for a month, and died peacefully. She meant so much to our small family, and she had this giant heart with a place for us as well as her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Now we are feeling a bit empty and lost even though she was saved and I was allowed to wish her a good journey to heaven."
here is gunnar and his dearest aunt lilly who he and felisol and serina were forever visiting.
and here is a lovely poem that i am dedicating to them
I see the countless Christmas trees
Around the world below
With tiny light, like Heaven´s Stars
Reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular,
Please, wipe away that tear,
For I am spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas Songs
That people hold so dear.
But, the sounds of music can´t compare
With the Christmas Choir up here.
I have no words to tell you
Of the Joy their voices bring
For it is beyond description
To hear the Angels sing.
I know, how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart,
For I am spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.
I can´t tell you of the splendor
Or the Peace here in this place.
Can you just imagine Christmas
With our Saviour face to face??
I´ll ask Him to lift your spirit
As I tell Him of your love,
So then, Pray for one another,
As you lift your eyes above.
Please, let your hearts be joyful
And let your spirit sing,
For I am spending Christmas in Heaven
And I am walking with the KING.
Author: Wanda Bencke. (1998).
please pray for our precious norwegian family as they prepare for the funeral being held the 26th or 27th and they celebrate aunt lilly's life and say their farewells for now.
it will NOT be a final farewell...
thank you....love terry

Oh Gunnar We Are A Day Late AGAIN!
dear gunnar...bernie and i wish you a belated birthday and no one can say it better than your dear felisol'
i am putting here the words she had under your picutre on her blog.
these were written there from her bible one day on the far side of the sea....
. Love
1 Corinthians 13
Love
1If I speak in the tonguesa]">[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,b]">[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Happy Birthday dear friend...love bernie and terry

Happy Retirement Bernie
go and wish teach mary the queen of ruby tuesday a very happy christmas!
this sunday evening after the gospel meeting our niece rachel had a "surprise" retirement party for her uncle bernie
surprise...ha! mom is definitely not the word in the golden family. happy secrets cannot be kept and well, you must know that mom golden has always been bernie's mom golden too and so the story goes...he read between the lines...no indeed!.. MOM is not the word.
in fact this anniversary cake was picked up by betty and bernie and the little red car a day BEFORE the celebrations!
talk about reading between the lines!
here, bernie cuts off a big slice of cake for our friend doug, and bernie is certainly not stingy!
seeing as it is ruby tuesday, i decided to leave on my ruby hat for the occasion.
i seem to look very tired and the reason is that i AM!
that bernie has been a ball of fire since he has retired and i think it will be hard to keep up with him!
here are our friends doug and leona, good friends who the golden family adopted several years ago and here is our rachel with her arm around uncle bernie.
i think that this retirement busness might just be for the birds...bernie and the little red car found out that walmart was opened for twenty four hours and if you are wondering why it is so late that i am posting my ruby tuesday, well it is because at one a.m. the two of them forced me to go shopping!!..and the only thing bernie bought was the 2010 car calender that walmart puts out every year and he bought it for the little red car!...nuthin' for me!
and believe me...it was NOT a pretty sight!
happy ruby tuesday to our pied piper, mary t the teach and to all her followers and all our other blogger friends...every last one of them..... god bless you...love terry
ps... my grandpaw ron...have you still got the jar of "jobs for bernie to do"? i would appreciate it if you would send it to me if you remember where you buried it....!!!

Happy Blog Anniversary Mr. Jim!
mr. jim wrote his very first post on december 1 2005.
in the four years that he has been here in blogger land, he has endeared himself to so many people..
i would say that he is loved by one and all of us! http://jimmiehov.blogspot.com/
here is mr. jim's first post,
Thursday, December 01, 2005
"Just a couple [two] of words to welcome. This is my first attempt at blog writing and I don't have a message today. I want to see if it works.
So, HELLO!"
bernie and i met mr. jim january 7 2007 through our good friend curious servanthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/4797906, and here is my first comment to him,
Dear Jim..."I just came from curious servants
Apparently he wants us to thank you for the suggestion you gave him about that beautiful post he just put on today and I am doing just THAT...Thank you!!...from Terry
God bless you both!"
sun january 7 2007
mr. jim has been our precious friend ever since!
he has shared his lovely family with us and in fact adi has come to visit a couple of times and katrin one time. adi piloted an airplane that was chuck full of my blogger friends pets and they all had quite a nice time here for a few days!
his granddaughter amber came along too. i am going to add the blog url of the reports of their visits to our southern ontario home.
both of these pictures are so true of mr. jim. he always has a listening ear when anyone writes to him for advice or for prayer.
ever since i have known him, he has been praying for dad golden who he fondly calls pop golden.
he also, no matter how busy he is slips around to my blog to sing happy birthday to the ones who are celebrating. i call HIM my singing telegram boy!
it was really cute this year that he came to the scarf sisters and sang happy birthday to donna!
if any of you know mr.jim just a little bit, you must surely realize how he loves to eat!
i really believe that this must be his favourite past time!
what is so maddening about the whole thing is that mr. jim eats all of that fattening food and he never gains an ounce!..grrrr...mom golden is the very same!
oh by the way..i got all of this food on the table from mr. jim's own blog.
now also you must know that mr. jim is a car enthusiast.
now as i am partial to red cars, myself and seeing as, after all i am the one writing this post, i put all red cars in this picture. i mean what can be cuter than seeing a little girl, wearing red rubber boots and standing beside a red truck, and a pretty girl wearing a red sweater standing beside an antique red car, and what can be better than that fellow[i have no idea who HE is] standing beside my little red car, and what can be better than the old guy in the middle hugging HIS red car. eh?
not to mention another old guy standing beside that antique red truck!
mr. jim has taken his sweetheart all over the world to exotic places and he is always so generous with the photos and great long post describing their adventures.
so, so nice!
now as far as i am concerned this is what pleases me the most about mr. jim.
he is a close friend of the lord and he is one man who lives his faith.
oh sure he doesn't talk a whole lot about it but he is a man of god.
so many times he has gone to spanish countries to help out with the children there who are in need of not only earthly food but also in need of spiritual food and a whole lot of loving and mr. jim is surely the person for that! http://teresaannegolden.blogspot.com/2008/03/mr-jims-story-of-salvation.html
so happy fourth blog anniversary mr.jim.
please keep up the good work because we all love you!...love bernie, terry and the fat cat.
just a few of adi's posts

Spanish Christmas Fiesta
http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/
mary t the teach!
last saturday, the spanish christians held their annual christmas party, to which the whole congregation was invited.
as bernie and i were both under the weather, we were unable to go but i did manage to make a large fruit salad for the party and the little red car who was NOT under the weather drove us out friday evening to deliver the salad to the hall where we put it into the big fridge.
the spanish folk would much rather eat "ensalada de frutas" than cakes, pies or cookies!
this is a close up picture of the fruit salad.
and this is the picture after i added a few spanish kids and their mamas and friends and sunday school teachers into the salad.
as we were not there to take photos, which i surely would have, i went to my folders and borrowed a few pictures from vacation bible school where there are so many spanish children who attended.
have a very happy ruby tuesday beloved teach and all of your ruby tuesdayers and all of the other dear blogger friends..god bless....love terry

Lord's Day Morning Hymn
1. Praise the Lord, and leave to-morrow
In thy loving Father’s hands;
Burden not thyself with sorrow,
For secure the promise stands.
[: He is faithful! :]
Leave thy troubles in His hands.
2. Trust to-day, and leave to-morrow,
Each day has enough of care;
Therefore, whatso’er thy burden,
God will give thee strength to bear.
[: He is faithful! :]
Cast on Him thine every care.
3. Pray to-day, and let to-morrow,
Bring with it whate’er it may;
Hear thy loving Father promise
Strength according to thy day.
[: He is faithful! :]
Trust Him therefore, come what may.
4. Watch to-day, and leave to-morrow,
For to-morrow may not come;
Ever to-day thy loving Saviour
May appear to take thee home.
:He is faithful! :
Look for Him, the coming One.
5. Work to-day, and leave to-morrow;
All around there’s urgent need;
All around there’s sin and sorrow;
Broadcast, daily sow thy seed.
[: God is faithful! :]
He shall bless thy work indeed.
6. This by trusting, watching, praying,
Each day, as our time rolls on,
We shall find the promised blessing,
Daily strength till Jesus come.
[: He is faithful! :]
He will come to take us home.
have a blessed lord's day friends....love terry

Ruby Tuesday Birthday Girl
http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/
mary the teach ruby tuesday meme.
come and join the fun!
dear felisol...today the little red car took us to the doctor's office where bernie had an appointment.
on our way out i asked bernie if we could see if the roses were still blooming at the side of the building.
seeing as it is your birthday, i just thought that maybe i could pick one for you, and here is a beauty that i found.
you can see the snow on the petals.
and here is a birthday card for you where i stuck in the rose!
alas,as i looked at these dear roses that were withering away save for a few hardy ones, i thought of the rose bush at your mothers where you have a full tree that is bearing so many sweet family roses and so i have put this picture in for you and i have added this song....
Roses Will Bloom Again
"I planted a little rose bush,
I tended it with care,
It’s buds began to blossom
Their fragrance filled the air
But when winter came it withered,
The petals drooped and fell to the ground,
My heart sank as it faded,
But I’d forgotten who had made it.
CHORUS
Roses will bloom again,
Just wait and see
Don’t mourn what might have been
Only God knows how and when that
Roses will bloom again
this is your living rose bush felisol and the rose in the upper right hand corner, your dad ljung and serina's grampa ljung is in the garden where the roses ne'er will fade!
happy happy birthday my bestest friend and happy ruby tuesday!......love bernie and terry and the fat cat..XXXXXX..meowXX

When He Was On The Cross I Was On His Mind
david says,
"God loves me because
Of what He is, and because
Of what He’s made me."
i thought of this song of god's great love to undeserving us and so i am putting it in here.
david, i am happy that i ever did see you at amrita's and found your blog!
may the lord bless you and your whole family!.....

Ruby Tuesday Christmas Soon?
http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/ take a trip to see mary the teach and you will be glad that you did!
well if this little tree wants snow and christmas to come...it surely looks like he DOESN'T to me!
every tree in our neighborhood is bare, but this little guy still has his autumn golden finery on!
well the little red car was wanting to see some signs of christmas so it drove bernie and me to harveys' in port colborne.
this is what we found there.
on a small table, there was in place a box of coloured magic markers, small white plastic take- out cups and a pile of small red strings to loop through the cups.
now of course this was for the children customers to use to make decorations for the tree, but bernie and i are young at heart and so we played along!
here is bernie's finished product.
and here is mine!
ready to hang on the tree.
now i must tell you that bernie had wanted to put "bah! humbug!" on his but i sternly told him that he had better not dare!
here is that christmas grinch now, looking so inncocent as he places the decoration on the tree along with the other "kids" creations!
god bless you all and thank you our beloved teach, mary for the the new pair of ruby christmas shoes...love terry

Blessed Thanksgiving To The United States
all across the united states today families are celebrating thanksgiving.
the american thanksgiving is a huge a day as we in canada have on christmas day.
when the golden children were little kids, dad golden brought in the old black and white tv. now mom golden was very fussy about what we kids watched but i am putting a little video clip here of one program that she had no problem with, "father knows best" starring robert young and jane wyatt.
now this particular episode, i really can't recall but reading between the lines, i think i can surmise what it is about.
it appears that each child was suppose to be away on thanksgiving and dad and mom would be celebrating thanksgiving alone.
well as it turns out each of the three children for some reason or the other returns home just in time for the hamburger supper that was prepared.
not a turkey in sight and not a pumpkin pie in sight.!
but there was a FAMILY in sight!
now i had just let you watch this and let you decide for yourself if they had a blessed and happy thanksgiving!
Proverbs 15:17
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
Psalm 100:4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name
happy thanksgiving to our dear american friends!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!......
love bernie and terry and the fat cat!
ps...i was curious about the third chapter of uncle toms' cabin" and so i googled it and found that it is well worth the read[if you don't mind shedding a few more tears!]
