For Sandy

What Is A Cat

Gentle eyes
that see so much,
paws that have
the quiet touch.

Purrs to signal
"all is well"
and show more love
then words can tell.

Graceful movements
touched with pride,
a calming presence
by our side.

A friendship
that will last and grow,
small wonder
why we love them so!........[author unknown]

My First Christmas In Heaven

I am borrowing this poem from Paul's' blog site "Still Rambling".

It is such a touching poem that I thought it would be well worth printing out again.
I am sure that Paul will not mind!

"My First Christmas in Heaven"

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights like Heaven's stars reflecting on the snow.
The light is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here!
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring
For it's beyond description, to hear the angels sing!

I know how much you miss me,I see the pain inside your heart
But I am not so far away, we really aren't apart.
So be happy for me dear ones, you know I hold you dear
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift, from my Heavenly home above,
I send you each a memory of my undying love.
After all, "love's" the gift, more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important, in the story Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to you
For I can't count the blessings for love He has for you.
So have a Merry Christmas, and wipe away the tear.
Remember I'm spending Christmas, with Jesus Christ this year.

As I read this poem on Paul's site the other day it brought to my mind the different people that I have met this year on the blog world that have had to say good bye for now to loved ones and I really feel bad for them spending the first Christmas without a part of their own heart.
Here are just to mention a few some of these my friends,
Sabine,[Sunshine and Shadow] who's dad in November, happily saved, left for heaven, Laura-Mae[A Perfecting Love] whose grandpa passed away into the loving arms of his Savior, Morgan Denise[A splash of Color in Your Day] who had to say good bye to her dear grampa, Jessica[A Young Mother Who Lives in a Cute White House"] who's dear uncle died leaving a little hope to the family that he was saved..
And then friends that most of us know and who have met at concerts; Warren Parker of the "Parker Trio", Douglas Riley of Gold City and Anthony Burger the pianist of Gaither and Friends are now singing in Heaven!

It is a comfort that these dear ones are in heaven and even though their loved ones here below have felt the sadness of being without them, this poem that Paul put on his blog can hold some real comfort to those who remain behind for now but have the blessed hope of seeing them again!

And to quote my friends Wess and Susan Adams AGAIN! "You haven't lost something when you KNOW where it is!"

I Am A Year Old*

Thanks to Noel Lewis, I got my previous posts back and I just noticed that it is a year since I started to blog...December 24, 2005!
In memory of this occasion I will not post a picture because I didn't even know HOW to until my friend Erica of "Urka's Musings" who is a friend of Morgan Denise of "A Splash of Color in Your Day" TAUGHT me how!
I am still pretty dense at some of the other things like posting links but I must tell you that two days ago, I discovered "spell check" on this thing!!
Now all I have to do is discover how to spell check my comments because as all of my blogging buddies know, I am one bad "spellar"!!. It is NOT a pretty sight!!

Hey!! Spell check just told me that "blog" is spelled wrong and wants me to replace it with bloc, Bloch, blows, bloke, blocs, block, bolos,[???], bloc's, blouse or blocky!!!
What IS a bad speller to do?

***Happy Holidays To Precious Friends***

Jesus, my Savior, to Bethlehem came,
Laid in a manger to sorrow and shame.
O it was wonderful, blest be His name,
Seeking for me, for me.
Seeking for me, for me,
Seeking for me, for me;
O it was wonderful, blest be His name,
Seeking for me, for me.

Jesus, my Savior on Calvary's tree,
Paid the great debt, and my soul He set free.
O it was wonderful-how could it be?
Dying for me, for me.
Dying for me, for me,
Dying for me, foe me;
O it was wonderful-how could it be?
Dying for me, for me!

Jesus, my Savior, the same as of old,
While I was wandering far from the fold,
Gently and long did He plead with my soul,
Calling for me, for me.
Calling for me, for me,
Calling for me, for me;
Gently and long did He plead with my soul,
Calling for me, for me!

Jesus, my Savior, shall come from on high.
Sweet is the promise as weary years fly,
O I shall see Him descend from the sky,
Coming for me, for me.
Coming for me, for me,
Coming for me, for me;
O I shall see Him descend from the sky,
Coming for me, for me!

Oh! The Coldness Of It All!...For Amelia

It does seem that the only signs of an "almost winter" at the palace are the frozen fingers of ice that are clutching at the roots of the trees lining the Lake Ontario shoreline.

Large pieces of ice dangle like silver earrings on the branches of the trees making them indeed a pretty sight.

Pretty? Yes, but oh so chilling!

Even the surrounding rocks that are hugging the trees for warmth are frozen! SOLID!

As is the very ground!

There is just no escaping the strong clasp of the frozen water as it makes it way up this tree's trunk.

The warm rays of the day's sun nor even the latter sunset's warm caress had no power on the relentless ice.

The kindly sun really tried its hardest as it licked the icicles growing in the water, turning them a bright pink, but to no avail.

No!To be frozen until spring were the trees' destiny!
Maybe Mrs. Mac's wishes for a warm blanket of white fluffy snow to cover these shivering creatures will come true!

In the meantime though, I will have to give these pictures to dRaGoNfY WiNgS to gaze at, as she is feeling the heat too much in her own country and says she needs even just a little sight of Canadian winter to cool her off!

Don't Let It Snow...Don't Let It Snow!! Sorry About That Mrs. Mac!

Last week when the weather was cold, I was hoping for just a little snow so that I could take some "snow" pictures for Mrs.Mac.
Well even though the dark clouds did give us a pile of the white stuff, the warm sun rays had taken it away before my arrival to the palace.
Warm sun rays sent to me from one of my good friends who lives in Malaysia!!!

At about five o'clock as the sun was just sweeping down the drive way,on its way to bed I thought maybe I could send Mrs. Mac some "almost winter" sunsets and this is what I am dedicating to her...This lovely sunset!

If we have a green Christmas like the weather man is promising us, I think I will just have to go into my picture archives and post a few photos of how the Niagara Region SHOULD be having winter at this time of year!!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas At The Palace

This week our client's home, five girls have been putting the palace into order for Christmas.
One girl scrubbed the house from top to bottom and another did some decorating.
She changed the old spinning wheel into a Christmas tree fit for a queen.
She put electric candles throughout our lady's special room.
Betty rummaged through boxes looking for more Christmas ornaments and another girl did some MORE decorating, while our sweet lady watched peacefully from her bed.
Another girl brought in tons of chocolates, the lady's favorites and one bite brownies another of our darling's weaknesses.
Terry swept in with her camera and cleaned up on the spoils getting these pictures.
Well I guess Terry DID do one thing more.
She cleaned and shined up all of the queen of the castles old brass today and fed the fair lady pizza, the client's FAVORITE meal!!

*For Susan*...The Last of Southern Ontario Fall Colors...

Two weeks ago I wandered the palace yards hoping to find at least a few more colors of fall and this is what I found.

Indeed.... although the grounds were barren, I DID manage to get a few colorful pictures.

These photos, I am dedicating to my California friend Susan of "Susan's Blog".
I hope you will enjoy these!

Now on to another posting!

For Julie And Andy And Their Little Princess

Dear Julie and Andy,

At last!
I have obtained a sunrise after looking for so long.

Alas!
Not in time for your anniversary, so I thought that I would put a pretty little princess into it instead.

I have put in the anniversary picture that I had to settle for of you and Andy but I know that you love the fall, so I don't think you minded that too much,eh?

The little lassie is just beginning her life as the sun is just starting it's day.
And surely as you guide her little steps..."Joy WILL come in the morning"!

May the Lord bless you!!
All three of you!!.............Love Bernie and Terry

Thank you so much Jel for sending me your sunrise!!

My Dad is Eighty Years Old Today

This Sunday was a very special day for the Golden family.
My father Cecil Wallace Golden celebrated his 80th birhday.

How did he celebrate?

Well...He did just what he usually does on a Sunday's afternoon.
He made a delicious Sunday dinner for mom, Gracie, Bernie and me.
This he loves to do EVERY week!

Later in the afternoon, Betty will be bringing over a cake for him.

The picture at the top is one that I took of dad three weeks ago while he was talking to my sister Gail, who lives in New Market.
Gail is his favorite daughter just as each one of his other five girls are his favorite daughter.!
He has three favorite sons too, although one of them, David is in heaven.

The next picture is one that I took today of my mom and dad.

The following pictures are ones that I snapped with my camera, as they posed for me hanging from the wall!

When Dad was 21, he married his sweetheart Edna Kathaleen Wells who was 17.
They had nine children who to this day STILL love them very much and consider themselves very blessed to still have them in their lives.

Dad served his country for many years working for the Canadian Air Force.
He always had to work two or three other part time jobs also just to clothe and feed his children.

He has always been a dedicated father and although he rarely had enough money for himself he always made sure that his wife and children and then later the grandchildren and GREAT grandchildren were looked after.

I was told by a relative that Dad sold his fishing rod one time just so that he could buy us food.

My dad never owned a house but he was in our eyes a success!
We love him dearly.

Our only heartache is this...My dad is not yet saved.
If a person could earn their way to heaven with good works, I know that he would surely be there but as we know, the only way to heaven is through the Lord Jesus Christ who gave his life for us on the cross.

We pray that my dad will get saved..

Happy Birthday Dad!

Wess and Susan.. I gave your message to my dad today. I wished him a "Happy Birthday" from you and I told him that you have both him and Miss Katy in your "prayer basket".
