Happy Fathers Day Dad Golden

it is officialy fathers day in southern ontario and so i am wishing to dad golden a very happy one!
the pretty girl in the picture is my sister gail..she brought a birthday cake down for dad in november when dad golden turned 84...gail comes from new market, just outside of toronto..she and her three boys and our sister, sandra will be coming down for fathers day,,,there will be quite an apartment full because gracie will be there too and possibly our baby sister karen and dad golden's eldest, betty.
gail and dad golden have a special relationship...every morning dad golden does the jumble puzzle from the toronto star in welland and every morning gail does the jumble puzzle from the toronto star in new market...and every morning at nine o'clock, dad golden phones gail and compares answers...they are both very good at it!
i really don't think that gail will like this picture but that s too bad..i think she is cute and also it made dad golden very happy!
bernie and i always put a bible verse in the happy ad because dad golden is not saved yet..i am praying that this verse is a good one...mr. jim was saved hearing this verse.
well i had better sign this post off now, as it is getting pretty late.
i will have to set the alarm for three in the morning. i have in the oven a wack of cabbage rolls which i am baking for dad golden's fathers day dinner...usually dad golden cooks the sunday dinner but i am giving him the day off!
that bernie fellow does not get the day off though...every sunday he washes the dishes and THIS sunday is no different..hahhahaha

Happy Birthday Dad Golden

today is dad golden's birthday and as usual dad golden was greeted a happy birthday the very first one by felisol from the far side of the sea.
you see dad golden has been her prayer child for about four years now.
i, myself did not say "happy birthday dad" until seven this morning when he called bernie and me as he does EVERY morning.
the reason i waited until this morning to post is because i waited for the newspaper to come with dad golden's happy ad..
with him in this picture is his middle child sandra lee golden.



this was around the time that dad and mom golden had moved to trenton ontario as dad golden had joined the air force.
although gail hadn't made her appearance yet, she surely is in this picture!
mom golden's dad is standing beside his oldest daughter, edna kathleen!


for sure and that sandra lee is the spoiled one...hogging dad golden all to herself!
little gracey, the baby is being held by mom's baby sister, aunt barb.
grampa wells and aunt barb were visiting from dunnville.[sonny sikora's present home town].


grampa wells is surrounded by six lively golden grandchildren...betty jane, teresa anne, teddy ralph edward, gary micheal ross, sandra lee and grace marion...

oh! here is little gail susan now in the picture!
born in trenton for sure but soon to be heading out west to a beloved new province, manitoba.
i will never forget the day she was born and neither will teddy or dad golden.
when we got the happy news that mom golden had had a baby girl, well that teddy threw a tantrum...was he mad!. he said, "mom was SUPPOSED to bring home a boy!"
hahahaha!



this is teddy sitting in the front room of our tiny base home.
i mean, i really don't know where mom and dad stuffed all the kids..seven of them into a three bedroom house!



these two, teddy and gary were partners in crime!
just look at their mischievous faces!
oh that mom golden was such a spotless housewife..that trait was NOT passed on to her second daughter...alas!


here mom golden is tying gary's shoe laces.
this was on an evening that we were all going to the sunday school christmas program.
have you ever heard of the wood shed where in the olden days naughty children were taken out to?
well in our tiny house, the bathroom was mom golden's "wood shed"!
many the meetings i had with her there!...hurt, pain and agony but it never hurt me one bit in the long run!


sandra panda ruled the house. we all spoiled her rotten especially that betty jane!


good thing in those days there were no cell phones!
sandra would have talked mom and dad golden into the poor house!

i loved dolls so much but alas! i have no real ones! betty has five children, teddy has four and sandra panda has one...
the one particular doll that i have here was scalloped by that bad boy, gary!


dad golden took this picture of mom golden while she was wrapping christmas gifts.
that mom golden has always been thin except for nine times!


here was the sunday school program that the golden children attended so many years ago...i am saying my piece here..the little boy standing beside me was the same age as i was . i have ALWAYS been the biggest kid in the room!


now when dad golden and the family was transferred out west, along came this little fellow, david brian golden...he is in heaven now and dad golden thinks about him so much and wishes he could see him again.
our family is waiting for the time that dad golden will choose the lord jesus and eternal life
i rarely preach to dad golden but when he said this one time, i said, "dad the only way that you will ever see david again is if you get saved..then you will see him in heaven," it is where you will see him!"
karen dianne is the baby of the family and the apple of her dad's eye.
karen was born in rivers mantioba...she has a daughter of her own now, and so dad golden's family is a lot bigger than the newspaper picture of him when he was just 34years old!
hmmm... how did dad and mom golden EVER stuff nine kids into a four bedroom house..oh yeh!..mom and dad golden made the dining room into their bedroom!!ha!

happy birthday dad...we will always appreciate that you are a dad!....love bernie and terry

A Sad Fathers Day For Dad Golden

as we do every year, for dad golden's fathers day gift , we put his picture in a happy ad in the tribune.
he loves this but this year both he and the family were quite disappointd because the picture that he requested that we put in was a family picture of him and mom golden and the nine children.
bernie and i did not mind paying extra .
[after all it IS a special occasion!]....and for a week dad golden was waiting for saturday paper and look what they have done.!
they have cut the whole family out around dad golden....he was soooo disappointed and now bernie and i will go first thing in the morning to staighten the newspaper out! They WILL put the right picture in there!

this is the picture that dad golden wanted.
it is a few years old and it is the last whole family photo that we have, as david is now in heaven.

we were at mom and dad golden's apartment today and dad golden seemed so down.
we will try and fix that for him...and then i will put in the fathers day post that i had intended to...even if it is later in the week..i am a little down myself!

Dad Golden's Birthday...Part Two

well here i am, the other daniel in grampa golden's family.
somehow i and uncle eric and aunt marie were left out of the grandchildren report and so my auntie is letting me be the master of ceremonies here.
she is a day late! something about being too tired which i do not understand at all. after all she and my uncle bernie have no kids to run after like my mom gail and dad ross do....how on earth could she possibly be tired?
anyway here is the beginning of grampa golden's story and i want to wish him a very happy belated birthday!
hi uncle eric and aunt marie! you are in good company!

aunt terry and uncle bernie who are very close with their money decided even though grampa's birthday was on a thursday, they would put grampa's congratulations in the friday paper..you see in this southern ontario city, everybody gets a free paper on a friday. thousands of more people would see it.
the reason she is in the picture with grampa is because she was too tired to go down town and so she just scanned the picture over and they made the mistake of including her in the picture.. she was sooooo embarrassed!


grampa cecil wallace golden was born november 12, 1926 in st catharines, ontario.



this is a picture of his mama, my great gramma elizabeth golden.
this is the school that grampa golden attended.



grampa is sitting here in front of gramma goldens wall of fame..
i am sure that i am in there somewhere!
aunt terry took pictures of the pictures on this wall and used them for this post!


grampa golden was a fire fighter for the royal canadian air force and we are all so proud of him!


grampa married my beautiful gramma golden on july 26, 1947.
everybody thinks that my mom gail looks like gramma...she is so pretty!


here is the wedding party. the little blond flower girl is gramma's sister, my great aunt barbara who looks a whole lot like my aunt sandra.

ha!..were my aunt betty and aunt terry really children in the olden days?


now the next several pictures are the few whole family ones that my aunts and uncles were in. i imagine that it was very difficult to get such a big family together in one spot at one time....very, very difficult if you want my opinion!

here are six of my aunts and uncles at one wedding...the bride is aunt terry, the groom is uncle bernie, and then there is aunt betty the maid of honour, my uncle gary, the best man, uncle teddy a grooms man, and aunt karen, the flower girl.
it really seems that my golden relatives stick together!

this is uncle john's and aunt betty's wedding.

my uncle teddy was not in it for some reason but that is alright because aunt grace's future husband, eric is there.



here is grampa and gramma golden at uncle gary's and aunt debbie's wedding.


i do not see this aunt and uncle too much because they live in the united states in iowa!
anyway this is my uncle teddy and my aunt lois.

ah finally, here is my mom gail at her wedding and this is a complete picture with mom and her whole family of brothers and sisters and grampa and gramma golden.
hey what is the big idea? where is my dad?...not very nice!
i hope that he doesn't see this post!

oh well i will not be a spoil sport grampa golden.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY again..love from daniel and the whole family and MY dad too!!
