Hi dear friend, Terry,
This song was one of the early favorites that Ernie and I used to sing. Did you know that my husband was very good in singing, and he loved to sing! He used to sing this one... oh how it reminds me of him.
Thanks for sharing this. Indeed, Jesus is the sweetest name I know! No other name...none can compare...
Blessings on your Lord's Day, dear Terry.
I'm glad this song also touched your heart Miss Terry, it has gotten me through many situations where all I could do was call on the name of the Lord, and it has also been a song of praise when my heart was glad!
dear pat and crown of beauty,
it is so amazing to me that the holy spirit, the lord, no matter where we are in this world speaks the same words and gives us the same hymns that are needed and at the same time!
i have been enjoying this hymn that pat wrote about this friday and when i went to worhip meeting this morning, this is the hymn that we sang..
There is a Name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in my ear,
The sweetest Name on earth.
It tells me of a Savior’s love,
Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
The sinner’s perfect plea.
It tells me of a Father’s smile
Beaming upon His child;
It cheers me through this little while,
Through desert, waste, and wild
It tells me what my Father hath
In store for every day,
And though I tread a darksome path,
Yields sunshine all the way.
It tells of One whose loving heart
Can feel my deepest woe;
Who in each sorrow bears
A part that none can bear below.
It bids my trembling heart rejoice.
It dries each rising tear.
It tells me, in a “still small voice,”
To trust and never fear.
Jesus, the Name I love so well,
The Name I love to hear:
No saint on earth its worth can tell,
No heart conceive how dear.
This Name shall shed its fragrance still
Along this thorny road,
Shall sweetly smooth the rugged hill
That leads me up to God.
And there with all the blood-bought throng,
From sin and sorrow free,
I’ll sing the new eternal song
Of Jesus’ love for me!
have a blessed week...love terry
It's one of my favorite praise song. I just love that song. Thanks for sharing it with us. God bless you always.

Miss Terry...I love this song...I have used it as a lullabye, for both my girls and the grandbabies. I sing it just about everyday...several times a day!!!
Love you,
