RYAN, Catharine - Kathy Ryan (Blanchard) passed away at the Welland Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 in her 33rd year. Beloved wife of Barry Blanchard. Cherished mother of Ian and baby Joseph. Dear daughter of Rita and the late Larry Horton and daughter-in-law of Lillian Blanchard. Loving sister of Christina Roth (James) and sister-in-law of Sandra Biro (Mark) and Tim Blanchard. She will be lovingly remembered by her aunt Marion Summerfield, many cousins, friends and everyone in the Blanchard, Ryan and Horton families. Kathy was an avid go kart fan and had worked for Avondale and 7-11 for many years. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br 4 Ladies Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose (St. Catharines). The family will receive their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday after 10 a.m. where Rev. Norm Perry will conduct the funeral service on Friday at 11 a.m. Private interment at a later date. yesterday we said goodbye to aunt marion. the service was in the united church and although it was a sad occasion, yet it was a celebration. the minister spoke a very comforting message and told the children that aunt marion was out of pain now and because she believed in the lord, she was in heaven. the children and grandchildren and great grandchildren had some very good memories of aunt marion which they told us from the pulpit and they had some really beautiful songs played in dedication to her. one of her granddaughters sang her favourite song "amazing grace" while her cousin accompanied her playing the guitar, and another granddaughter dedicated a grandmother song to her beloved gramma. the beginning song was "whispering hope" and the beautiful hymn playing as we left the church for the grave yard was, "how great thou art". the preacher also said that this is a time to remember to never let the family become separated because their mother and grandmother and great grandmother would wish this that they all keep together. the poem that her daughter-in-law luann[the wife of kenny] was picked by aunt marion a few years back. i am not sure where she got it but i really think it is a nice one.. worth repeating it again here...

kenny had placed on the coffin the bible that mom golden had given aunt marion fifty years ago.
he is keeping that bible. to him it is a treasure.
yesterday when betty told evelyn [gough]chouinard about aunt marion, this is what she had to say of her. "Oh my goodness, I could not figure it out but she had been on my mind as were the kids over the past couple of weeks. Marion and I have been friends for years and I used to babysit the younger ones years ago. Thank you so much for letting me know. I wanted to offer my condolences on the loss of such a beautiful lady.She lived to love and had that love returned to her ten fold. The sorrow felt with her passing will be felt by so, so, many as she was a wonderful Mom, Grandmom and Greatgrand mom, a beloved sister to Aunt Edna who loved her so so much,she was an aunt to so many who shared that love. The loss here on earths is heavens gain as her blind eyes looked upon the face of her heavenly father and loved ones gone before. The tears of sorrow shed for her will help to wash away the greaf of this loss. So cry for her as you must and then rejoice at the fact that she was who she was. there will be another day of visitation at the funeral home and then on thursday morning the family will say their final good byes to aunt marion at the united church in st catharines. would you please continue to pray for the children...thank you...love terry

i have been thinking of aunt marion all day and knowing that she is in heaven.
i was really touched by sara's comment " this Sunday morning Aunt Marion spends the sabbath finally home. and mrs. mac.."rejoicing with heaven as she is welcomed home." and trish.."Her eyes can now see the glory of God...what splendor she beholds!" such a comforting thought that aunt marion is no longer blind...but how we all miss her.. there are no tears in heaven but there are plenty here on earth for her beloved children..kenny, little marion, brucey, eddie, richard, patty and beverly, and all their spouses and all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren and mom golden...and all of us!

I grew up in a family of nine children and each week my mother didn't just send us to Sunday School,she came with us.
We heard the gospel week after week from the year 1956 but were not saved until 1967.
The summer of 1967 my mother,my sister, Betty and I were all gloriously saved.
From that year until now several of my brothers and sisters were saved, but my dad still remains on the outside.
It has been our prayer that he will be saved soon and then the family circle will be unbroken and we will all be on our way to heaven where we will meet the Lord and see our brother, David who has gone on before.
