Ruby Tuesday Graduation Party For Amy

http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/
Photobucket
betty and john's daughter, amy graduated this week from niagara college.
she is now a professional web- page designer!

amy worked very hard in college and did her best and we are proud of her!
now most children would rather be celebrating with their friends at a time like this but amy has always been a family girl and so she wanted to be celebrate with the clan!

her teacher was very pleased with amy.
and so was her mom, betty.
and her big sister, rachel!
i am not a big fan of nail polish but i sure wished that amy had worn red nail polish.
is red polish in style these days?

now THIS is one of the reasons amy wanted to celebrate at home. she knew that for this most special occassion her auntie would be making a huge pan of scalloped potatoes!
yummy!

our friend, leona who is also part of the golden family made a veggie tray, with lots of red in it!

big john cut up a huge watermelon...my i love that ruby red!

and yummy! subs to go with the veggies
here is the cake that her family bought for amy and she seems really pleased!
a 2010 graduate!

i think that amy cut the first piece of cake for her dad and uncle bernie was not too far behind.
Now here are some of the invited guests..
aunt gracie and uncle bernie have their heads into the computer.
amy's big brother matthew[scat-mat] favoured the ruby tuesday post with a bright red t-shirt. scat-mat has always been my boy!
the doggies were all invited and they got plenty of holding.
leona's hubby, doug loves this little guy, and just look at the red collar!
little john sitting on a pink flowered couch gives the little white doggie some loving.

until big sister rachel grabs the little guy.
oh yes! the black kitty joined the crowd..big john is reading an archie book at his baby daughter's graduation party!

betty and leona are taking a breather. it is much harder now for all of us older folk to keep up with the excitement!
for sure and it was a very slow night for me...i only managed to take 150 pictures...very, very slow night!

now sweet amy, enjoy your piece of cake! ...and never listen to anyone who tells you that you can't have your cake and the icing too because you CAN..you have hard work to do but your auntie terry and uncle bernie are so proud of you and we know that you will succeed just as your sister, rachel has and your brothers, little john, ryan and matthew!....happy graduation..love aunt terry

Sonny This Is For You!

sonny..this song is for you!..this is some what of a get well post to you, as you recover from the flu that has once again attacked you this winter,,,,i do believe that this here bridge is in your home town and my old home town[ha!! MINE 58 years ago!]

now i will have to introduce sonny to my blogger friends. really his name is reg but reg it will never be to me...many years ago betty and i and my brother, teddy were babysitters to this little laddie and his brothers and sisters.
just lately we have come back in contact with him through a rivers, manitoba site and i have taken right over again chiding sonny and making sure he tows the line and i must say that he is being a good boy and listens well!

these are four pictures of our beloved manitoba. just see how flat the land is and just look at all of the houses and the air force hangers and the church buildings and the store...and the skating arena and the fire hall and the schools..etc etc etc...well most of it is all gone now after the government closed the base and had most of the buildings and houses and the school too[!] torn down!

this is sonny's mom and dad and his little sister. the family lived about a two minute walk from the golden family.

and these are more brothers and sisters of that bad boy that i used to babysit. sonny and one of my baby sister's sandra panda were the best of friends in those prairie days.

when sonny grew up, he followed in his father's footsteps and served his country, i think in the navy...this little boy with him is his son. and he is really proud of his dad.

the following photos are of sonny's beautiful gardens. the sweet couple immersed in this picture is sonny's gramma and grandpa. they taught their grandchild almost everything he knows about gardening, although i do believe that as far as i can remember, sonny had a green thumb, even as a small child....look at these next pictures, the ones that sonny has taken of his lovely gardens and the ones that i have taken from him from his blog.

what a stunning pond that sonny has made.

the fish feel really safe in it.

all of god's creatures feel very safe and secure in sonny's gardens and they are free from predators as sonny keeps a watchful eye out for them.

they eat and drink to their heart's content!

this guy seems to be actually smiling at sonny, as he snapped this portrait.

miss butterfly is getting her fill of the pollen from one of sonny's flowers. now sonny knows all the names of these flowers but alas!..to me they are all just a really pretty bouquets of sweet smelling flowers!...that smarty pants even knows the name of each butterfly that comes a visiting him.

even the delicate humming bird has no fear of sonny and comes quite frequently for a taste of sweetness.

and this little thing is surely practising for the honey bee olympics!

well, take care sonny and look after yourself and you be a good boy now...ya' hear!

you can see many more photos of sonny's garden and pretty pictures of our home town at his blog which his nagging babysitter convinced him to create, is just full of them! http://mydunnvillegarden.blogspot.com/

god bless you sonny and all the blogging friends...love terry

Farewell To Shopper

december 28, bernie had to say good bye to his buddy of 14 years, his kitty "shopping news" and it has broken his heart.
this is a story i wrote about shopping news a few years back that a nice blog lady published for me on her blog...
http://www.occupytillicome.com/intro.html

Shopping News--The Cat!

Shopper's real name is "Shopping News."--For a reason. . . One morning when I was about to take my husband, Bernie, to work, I noticed a meowing coming from somewhere in the car. We looked under the hood of the car and nothing. Bernie thought I was just hearing things, so we got into the car and proceeded to drive. As soon as we had got around the corner, I told Bernie, "I STILL hear it!" We stopped right away at the side of the road, and by this time Bernie heard the same meowing!
He promptly got out, and going under the car, he started to explore. To his amazement he saw a small, skinny tail dangling from just under the muffler. He tried gently to give the tail a pull, with no results. There was nothing to be done but to give that tail a ruthless yank, and with that mighty pull out came a kitten! Somehow that little jigger had gotten himself on top of the muffler and had been trapped and couldn't get himself out! Well! Just then a guy that Bernie works with came by and yelled, "Bernie, you don't drive to work under the car! You get into the car!" With that he told Bernie he would drive him to work, and guess who got stuck looking after that kitten? Well I took him home and stuffed him into the bathroom with a litter box and a dish of food and shut the door. After all, I had a paper route to be delivered that morning. No time to be playing with stray cats! The paper I was delivering was the "Shopping News." Therefore that cat became "Shopping News"—“Shopper” for short, and ever since that day Shopper has been Bernie's boss. And my big black cat, "Sir Galahad" became Shopper’s boss. And as for me? I’m no longer a boss--I have become a referee for the three of them!
PS: Shopping News is now about ten years old and my Sir Galahad died at the age of 16 two years ago. © Teresa Shirkie

I Love You Bernie

Before!

Ruth 1:16,17
"Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:"
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

And After!

You Are Right Betty

Dear Betty, I read your comment just now and it gave me the strength to at least finish this post of our dear brother.
Here is your comment, "Terry, it doesn't seem like we lost David 11 years ago."
You know I guess we really haven't lost him, Betty, but we are lost without him. It is such a comfort that we know we will see him one day in heaven.
I have put this song in here because it has been a real comfort to me today and as I listened to it , I thought about David . Where he is now, there is all kinds of singing like this going on!

This is the first picture we have of when the Golden family of seven turned into a family of eight.
David Brian Golden was born in my beloved Manitoba.
As you can see by this picture, I appear really grouchy and so I should be!
Every time a baby was born in our family, Betty took right over like the mother hen that she is!
David is looking at her with adoring eyes!

These are the two baby Goldens. Karen Dianne Golden was born about two years after David, also, in the most beautiful province of Manitoba.

David on vacation with the family, the year Dad Golden packed the car with kids and drove them hundreds of miles to visit relatives in Welland, St. Catharine's and Dunnville, Ontario.
Dad Golden was a very brave and patient man to do this
!

Gracey and David greeting Dad Golden after his hard day of work being a fireman.
In those days Dad Golden always fussed when we wanted to take his picture.
I had to pay him two dollars to take this photo with the Browny camera that I had swiped from him and Mom Golden, but I see after all these years that it was well worth it!

Gary loved his little brother David but as you can see here, he was forever teasing him.
Gail is looking very concerned about her baby brother.

Ha!..This is David with his little girl friend. In the background you can see the little white trailer where the children in the neighborhood could go on a Friday evening to listen to stories from the Bible.

This is Gail and David. These two children were very close.
To his dying day David worshiped the ground that Gail walked on even though she was living in Toronto by that time.
You see, David was born after her and he was her baby brother
.

David all dressed up for Sunday School!

This is the last picture of the Golden family in Manitoba.
It was taken by the couple that used to drive us every week 33 miles to Sunday School.
David was a wee little gentleman here.
By this time Betty had moved to Trenton Ontario.
We all missed her and were looking forward to seeing her again.

David acting up for the camera!
By this time the family photographer had graduated to a 126 camera....never was it better than the 620 Browny camera!
The photos get discoloured with age!
I mean just look at that David!
He looks like a little tadpole!

Sometimes that David could be a pain..Ha!!

This is David with HIS little sister, Karen....at the beach!
This was in Ottawa where the family now lived at the air force base
.

Although David always got along well with his baby sister, it never took him long to cozy up to Gail!
Mom Golden was about 38 years old in this picture!

The four babies in the Golden family...Gracey, Gail, Karen and David.

Who else but these two partners in crime, David and Gail!

This is one of five pictures that we have of the whole family together.
With so many children, it is a rare thing to have them all in one spot at one time! This picture was taken at Gracey's wedding. Her husband Eric Robert took it.
Eric is with David in heaven.

When David was 33 years old he became a Christian and this beautiful song so reminds me of David, that I thought that I would put it on here.
I think that I will do one more post about David Brian with some pictures of him when he was older and I will write a little summary of his life.
I thank you one and all for your most kind comments. They have been a great comfort and I am going to print them out for Mom and Dad Golden..God bless you all...Love Terry
