this is one of my favourite southern gospel hymns. the lord jesus deserves all of our praises for dying on the cross for us, taking our place and his blood washes us from all of our sins. have a blessed sunday everyone...love terry
Dear Terry, This hymn was unknown to me. It was beautifully performed, but with four voices the lyrics wasn't easy to get hold of. I googled and found the most wonderful lyrics. Have a blessed Sunday, you and your family. From Felisol
Bethlehem, Calvary, Olivet, tell, Oh, what a Savior is mine! Mountain and plain with His praises shall swell, Oh, what a Savior is mine!
Refrain
Oh, what a Savior! Oh, what a Savior! Oh, what a Savior is mine! Unto the uttermost, wonderful, glorious! Oh, what a Savior is mine!
There, on the cross, where He died for my sin, Oh, what a Savior is mine! Giving His life a poor wand’rer to win, Oh, what a Savior is mine!
Refrain
Rising again in His infinite grace, Oh, what a Savior is mine! Shedding upon me the light of His face, Oh, what a Savior is mine!
Refrain
Lifting my burdens, relieving my care, Oh, what a Savior is mine! Giving me courage to do and to dare, Oh, what a Savior is mine!
oh aren't they both just lovely felisol. here are the lyrics to the song the cathedrals sing..
Once I was straying in sin's dark valley, No hope within could I see, I searched Thru heaven and found a Savior, To save a poor lost soul like me
Chorus
Oh what a Savior! Oh Hallelujah His heart was broken on Calvary, HIs hands we nail scared: His side was driven, He gave his life blood for you and me
He left the Father, with all his riches, WIth calmess sweet and serene, Came down from heaven and gave his life blood To make the vilest sinner clean.
Chorus
Death's chilly waters I'll soon be crossing, His hands will lead me safe o're I'll join the chirus in that great city, And sing up there for ever more
oh we are so blessed felisol! won't it be so grand that we will all be singing this saviour's praises together in heaven!
oh why felisol were we ever chosen is beyond me..
"Why was I made to hear his voice And enter while there's room, While others make a wretched choice And rather starve than come? 'Twas the same love that spread the feast That sweetly drew me in; Else I had still refused to taste And perish in my sin.'' by r.l. dabney
Dear Terry, So, I'm doubled blessed on a Sunday morning. Else it is my firm belief that Christ died for all of us, Dad Golden and me the same. I am double blessed that I may walk with Jesus and place my burdens, shortcomings and sorrows upon him. My life on earth is easier because I can "put my hands in the hand of the Man who calmed the water." I will meet Dad Golden in heaven, I know for sure. God will never stop calling and caring for him. I just wish my prayerchild could have the blessings of walking with the Lord now as well. From Felisol
I'm not Felisol, but I must tell you Terry, this is a favoirte old hymn of mine. It takes me back many years but is just as fresh and praise worthy as the first time I heard it. I love this precious song! Love Pat
miss patty do you remember how rosey roselle used to boom out this song and did you see how bill gaither had him sing it on one of his gaither and friends videos? he sang it, though weak in body, strong in voice. a little while after this, he was singing it right in the lord's prescence in heaven... love terry
I grew up in a family of nine children and each week my mother didn't just send us to Sunday School, she came with us.
We heard the gospel week after week from the year 1956 but were not saved until 1967.
The summer of 1967 my mother,my sister, Betty and I were all gloriously saved.
From that year until now several of my brothers and sisters were saved, but my dad still remains on the outside.
It has been our prayer that he will be saved soon and then the family circle will be unbroken and we will all be on our way to heaven where we will meet the Lord and see our brother, David who has gone on before.
