The Golden Family Picnic...June 30 2007

This Saturday Mom Golden and part of her large family gathered together at the park for their first Family picnic of the summer .
Because of his dizziness, and with the ground being so uneven, Dad Golden stayed at home.

Here is Bernie looking over the scene.

I have my big brown hat on to hide the stitches in my forehead!

This group picture is Mom Golden, Bernie and I,Gracie and Betty's older daughter, Rachel

Here Gracey's son, Justin and her daughter, Lena are at their usual recreation of teasing each other.
Gracey has four children and they all love each other and they have always got along.

Bernie sits here happily with his two girls , Graceys daughters Lena and Amanda.
Little Daniel, Amanda's brand new baby sits contently on Uncle Bernie's lap.

This is Dad and Mom Golden's baby, Karen who is 42 enjoying the summer sun with her niece, Amy,Betty's youngest child.

Betty holds Amanda's baby boy, Daniel.
He is a little cutie and is quite enjoying being passed from arm to arm.

I relish my turn of holding on to that baby great nephew of mine!

Betty's girl. Rachel is the eldest grandchild in the Golden family and little Daniel is the youngest
Rachel is 34 and the baby is 4 months.

Here is Gracey and her four children, Lena, Amanda, Eric and Justin.

Eric sweeps his little gramma right off of her feet much to the enjoyment of her four other grandchildren.
From left to right they are Gary's two boys..Jacoob.Tyler, his friend, James and beside Eric and Grandma Golden, Gary's eldest boy, Christopher.

Here is James, Gary's boy with his second favorite auntie. Betty is his favorite!

Now THIS boy of Gary's, Christopher is standing with me. I AM his favorite auntie!

Gary's boy wears a coke T-shirt as he looks at the line of competition.

The Golden clan sits and talks just before lunch is served.

Here they are digging in.
They are fighting over the scalloped potatoes!!
Ahem!! I won't tell you who made them but in my opinion they are the tastiest dish on the menu!

Three cousins...Christopher, Chase,Amanda's older son and little Jordan, Lena's only child

Uncle Eric and Uncle Justin fighting over who gets to hold Daniel.

Uncle Eric wins!

Little Daniel being cuddled by Auntie Karen.

FOUR generations.Great Gramma Golden, Gramma Gracey, mama Amanda and baby Daniel.

Gramma Golden never misses a birthday and her she has given Rachel her June birthday card and a gift.

Betty's husband John chats with Gracey.

Little Jordan, Lena's boy and Gracey's grandson.

John, having a man to man talk with the nephews.

Mom Golden and our best family friend, Leona Horne

One happy Baby Daniel!

One happy Baby Daniel being held AGAIN by his cousin, Amy.

John and Leona's husband, Doug enjoying a little quietness as the children have all jumped into the park swimming pool.

GREAT FAMILY PICTURES , TERRY
A large and growing family -

Thanks for posting them , families are unique -- a "bond" that only famlies can know -- may they all be "found" IN CHRIST

Terry, you have a very nice family. Looks like there wouldn't ever be even a cross word there.

My singing is bad. At one time in El Paso, Texas, I sang in the church choir and in a men's chorus (same church).
We moved to New England, there I had to try out for the choir soon after joining it.
The music minister told me he would rather that I not sing in his choir, my ear wasn't very good.
Guess you need good ears to sing in the 'Old Church' choirs. Texas ones didn't seem to care.
..
You can tell you hit a nerve there, can't you? [It took a while for me to gather courage to make this public again!]

Dear Jim..You know I am just kidding about your singing.
If you must know though, it was that Adi that told me how bad it is.
Kinda' hurt her ears doncha' know?
Anyway regardless, I don't think it is fair at all that they wouldn't let you sing in the choir.
I think that EVERBODY should be singing!!

Ha!
We DO have a few cross words between us now and then but if anybody else tries to butt in, well watch out!
One time when we were being driven to Sunday School ,Teddy bit Betty and she started to cry and the man that was driving us turned around and swatted Teddy.
Well that Betty stopped crying and she told the man,
Don't you DARE hit my brother!!
Go figure, eh Jim?......from Terry

What great pics, Terry! It looks like a grand time was had by all!

As for not being able to sing...I "make a joyful NOISE to the Lord!!"

Dear Tery,
wonderful family, You seem to be having such a good time together.
Jim: I would not attend a chouch who excludes members from praising the Lord.
One my best friends from school ended up in the Netherlands as a Benedictine munch. I've visited the monastery. They sing the most incredible Greogorian hymns. My friend, brother Ole does have a clean note on his reportoir, but he is still singing in the church, five times a day.

Those sad stories about singing remindme of a kind lady about your age, Mrs S, who gathers with us each week. She didn't sing when we first started meeting, because she said at her church they tel her to be quiet because she doesn't keep in key! I felt so bad for her, I thak God every time I hear her beautiful voice join in (which is not every song, but a joy to hear!). How sad!

Oh! What fun! Love the one with the baby and his finger in his mouth -- what beautiful eyes he has!
Was this early Canada Day celebration? Or just because?

Such nice photos and what a great day you must have all had. Loved the one of the kids holding grandma up off the ground :) ... and the baby is too precious!!! Our family gatherings always have a certain "potato" dish named after my son ... 'cuz he used to always ask his grandma to make them.
